Catching Up

Boy has it been a long time since I have done a blog update.  Nothing too exciting has been happening here.  We have been just trying to survive winter and are very ready for the warm weather to return so we can get outside.  Here's some pictures from the last month or so...

Eating Hersey's Kisses at her school Valentine's Day party.

Showing off her snack skewer.

Helping Daddy shovel snow.  This was our biggest snow in quite some time, about 6".

Emily & Daddy modeling their "Cousin Eddie" hats.

Not a fan of me interupting her sledding.

Of course you must dance while talking to Grammy on the phone.

Having fun during swim lessons.  Emily gets to graduate to the next level with the big kids the next time she goes.

Great Wolf Lodge

Last weekend went to Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City and had a blast!  What a nice break from the cold, winter weather to go swimming inside in nice 84 degree warmth.  Our friends the Casey's came too and Emily loved having her friends around to play with (especially since they all got to ride in the same car together on the way out).

Emily enjoyed the slides (including two of the big tube slides which she could ride with Mommy & Daddy).  I think her favorite spot was the lazy river where she could run around and "race" us.  It was nice that most of the pools and play areas were shallow enough where she could stand and didn't have to wear a life jacket.  Thanks Grammy & Poppy for the gift card and the idea to go there!

On the way home, we stopped in Kansas City for lunch at a restaurant where your food was brought to your table on a small train.  That was a big hit with the kids (and adults too).  It was a great trip!

Emily & Mommy racing around the lazy river.

Emily & Daddy swimming in the "big" pool.  This pool was a little deeper than the rest so Emily could "paddle" as she called it.  There were also basketball hoops, big floating lilly pads you could walk across and a floating snake the kids could try to sit on in this pool.

Trying out one of the small slides in the little kids section.  There were 3 slides here that were just her size.

Coming out of one of the big tube slides with Daddy.  She wasn't too sure about these at first but by the end of the trip thought they were really fun.

Floating in their raft after the slide.

Little Gym Show Day

Last week was "Show Day" at Little Gym.  All of the kids got to show off the skills they've learned during the semester.  Emily did a great job!

Christmas at School

Emily had lots of fun Christmas activities at school this year.  Here are some of the highlights...

Showing off her face painting at Breakfast with Santa

Posing on the sleigh outside Breakfast with Santa

Singing at her Christmas concert.  This was just too cute!!

There were hand gestures and everything!

Decorating her teachers as Christmas trees at their classroom Christmas party.

Yay!  Balloons and noise makers!  That is her best friend Alana sitting next to her.

Woohoo!  Ice cream!

Polar Express

Grammy and Poppy took us on the Polar Express (out of Connersville headed to the North Pole).  Randomly, we ran into The Hoy's, friends from college, and their kids while we were waiting for the train so Emily was excited to have some friends along for the ride.  It was lots of fun and Emily loves the bell she got from Santa as the first gift of Christmas.

The Polar Express has arrive at the station.  Very exciting!

Thanksgiving in Florida

I know I'm way behind in updating the blog but we have been very busy and my computer is dying again so better late than never.  We went to Florida over Thanksgiving and had a blast!  The weather was great and everyone stayed healthy this year so we were able to pack in lots of fun things.  Emily loved the beach (including the sand which she hated the first time we took her to Florida), swimming in the warm pools and hunting for shells (especially on the walking paths of Pelican Cove).

Looking out at the waterway while on a seashell hunt at Pelican Cove.

Posing by the pool with a pretty flower she picked on the way.

We went to Venice beach to hunt shark's teeth.  Emily spent most of her time flinging herself in the sand.  She had sand everywhere!  Her first trip to the beach when she was 18 months old, she wouldn't even touch the sand...she has come a long way!

Posing in a cool tree at Pelican Cove.

Annual picture by the Pelican Cove signs.  There are pictures of her daddy in the same place at the same age. :)

At Siesta Key beach, half buried in the sand.

Doing a little fishing with Daddy.  This was the biggest catch.  I don't think they liked our bait or the pelicans had eaten all the fish.

Hanging out before dinner.

Swimming with Daddy.

Swimming all by herself with no floaties!  Emily decided to give it a try one day and by the next she refused to put the water wings back on and was swimming all over the pool.  She really did a great job.  We're so proud of her!

Hanging out at Turtle Beach.

Jumping off the sand dunes at Turtle Beach.

Happy Halloween!

I know I'm running a little behind on my post about Halloween but someone has been keeping me awfully busy!  Emily LOVED Halloween this year and was super excited about it.  She wore her costume to school on Halloween (gloves and all) and refused to take it off the whole day.

Modeling the spider hat she made in school while wearing her sparkly witch shirt.

Playing at her school Halloween party.  I can't believe she wore the gloves all day.

More school fun.

Getting ready to trick-or-treat.  We didn't get many good pictures Halloween night, she was moving too fast!
