Dad's Night

Tonight was "Dad's Night" at Emily's preschool. Instead of having class this morning, they went to school tonight with dad in tow. It gives the dads who can't get away from work to do a parent helper day the opportunity to see what the kids are up to at school. Tonight had a sports theme so Emily and Cameron dressed up in their Blues gear. They had a great time doing crafts together, playing Play Doh, running experiments to see if different types of balls floated, singing and doing other fun stuff. Emily even got to put shaving cream on Cameron's face and "shave" him. It sounds like fun was had by everyone (including mommy who took this opportunity to get a massage)!

Big Girl Swim Lessons

Emily started swim lessons today. This is the first time that she is doing them without a parent in the water with her. I thought she might be a little nervous but when the teacher called her name, she went right to him and went right into the water with her class. They didn't do too much during this lesson since the teacher was mostly trying to figure out how comfortable they were in the water but she did a great job paying attention and following the rules. She said she had lots of fun! I appologize for the picture quality but she was a little far away.

Sitting with her class, getting ready to play with rings.

Following the teacher to the shallow part of the pool to work on kicking.

Practicing kicks

Each kid floated with the teacher around the pool and practiced kicking.

Miscellaneous Stuff

Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything. We had a great Christmas and Emily was spoiled rotten. She was very excited when Santa came! Overall, we haven't been up to much exciting. We're now getting back into our normal routine. Daddy is back at work and school has started again for Emily so things are settling back down. Here are some random pics from over the holidays...

Emily's Christmas party at school had a gingerbread man theme. Their snack was decorate your own gingerbread man cookie. Here Emily was preparing to cover hers with sprinkles before she ate every last bite.

One of the crafts at the party was decorating a "gingerbread house". Emily was concentrating hard at getting hers just right. The houses contained candy and a sparkly ornament with their name on it, which Emily loved.

Emily got a Leap Pad for Christmas from Grammy and Poppy and loves it! Here she is playing "small pad" (that is what Emily calls the Leap Pad) with Mommy who was playing on the "big pad" (her Christmas present from Daddy).

I walked in from cleaning up lunch to find Emily sprawled out playing "small pad". She had to be in just the right spot on the couch.

While Daddy was off he got to go to Little Gym with us. Lots of fun!

Posing on the bars!
