Halloween's Coming

We are gearing up for the big Halloween weekend. We went to a Halloween party at the Magic House on Monday which was lots of fun. Emily also got to wear her costume to Little Gym today. She kind of hates being in her costume until she sees the other kids dressed up then she is OK with it. We are excited to see how trick-or-treating goes. We think she will like running with the other kids more than the actual trick-or-treating.

Relaxing with Daddy while Mommy tries to get the condo cleaned up. Gee they aren't alike at all are they?

Going down a slide at the Magic House

"Reading" her books on the couch. This is one of her new favorite things to do. She gathers up books and "reads" them herself. She doesn't want any help and will occasionally show you what is going on in the book.

Fall Fun

So, I'm a little behind in updating the blog. These pictures are actually from a couple of weekends ago. When BeBe was in town we took her to the pumpkin patch where everyone had lots of fun!

Going down the tube slide at the playground.

She wouldn't stand still long enough to get a great picture with the pumpkins.

On a pony ride. We really thought she'd freak out when I put her on the pony but no. She was grinning and giggling from the get go!

Mommy and Emily on a "train" ride. They had a train of these cars behind a tractor. It took you through the corn stalks and pumpkin patch which were decorated for Halloween. It was pretty fun!

Busy Week

Emily (and Mommy) is having a very busy week. Monday we went to story time at the library, Tuesday we went to the zoo and Wednesday we went to The Magic House. Tomorrow we are headed to Little Gym and Friday we are going to a puppet show at the Faust Park carousel which will be followed by a carousel ride for sure. Whew! At least one of us is going to be wiped out at the end of this. Luckily BeBe and BoBo are coming for the weekend so Mommy and Daddy get to go out (to a movie of all things!) and relax.

Also, Emily picked out the outfit she has on in The Magic House pictures all by herself. This was the first time she has demanded to pick out her own outfit and she did a pretty good job.

Emily riding a frog while saying "ribbit" in the Children's Zoo.
Petting a goat. She still loved the goats.

Checking out the baby griaffe.

Back at the car to head home. She was asleep before we even made it to the highway (which is only a couple of miles from the zoo).

Playing at the water table at The Magic House.

Sifting sand. Yes, she actually touches it now so maybe the beach at Thanksgiving won't be a total bust this year...maybe.

Crawling through a tunnel that looks like a house.

Heading through yet another tunnel.

Cars, Ferries, Tractors and Trains

We had a big weekend here. Saturday we took the ferries into Illinois to visit an orchard and pick apples. On Sunday we went to a pumpkin patch and to the Wabash, Frisco & Pacific A-Gauge railroad to ride the train. It was lots of fun and Emily was thrilled by all of the different vehicles she got to ride on!

This is on the second ferry of our journey to the orchard: the Brussels Ferry. I call this Emily's "Lewis & Clark Pose" which is pretty fitting if you consider where we were. She wasn't too sure about the first ferry but once we got on the second she demanded to get out of the car and look around.

Excited to be on the tractor that took us out to pick apples.

On our third ferry (the Grafton Ferry) of the day on the way home from the orchard. Shortly after we got off the ferry, she fell asleep. It was like she waited for the ferry ride and that was all she had left in her. It was a big day!

At the pumpkin patch. She actually got the little pumpkin she is holding at the orchard and brought it to the pumpkin patch to see all of the other pumpkins.

Riding the train. She really liked the fact that the train blew a whistle and that there was conductor to punch her ticket and say "All Aboard" just like on Dinosaur Train.

Magic House

We went to The Magic House (a children's museum here in St. Louis) this week. We got a membership so now we can go anytime we want. This should be a great source of entertainment this winter when we are stuck indoors! Here are some pics of Emily at some of her favorite Magic House exhibits.

Playing at the water table.

Shoveling sand at the sand table. She likes to shovel the sand into one of the funnels with spinning wheel and I think she'd stay here for hours.

Walking across the beam over the sand table room.

Coming through a tube above the sand table room.
