Fun Week in Connersville

We spent last week with Grammy and Poppy in Connersville while Daddy attended meetings in Cincinnatti. Emily had lots of fun getting spoiled by her grandparents and learning that she likes play doh (much to her Daddy's dismay).

Emily stuck her sticker from Little Gym on her forehead and refused to take it off.

Swinging at the park in Connersville. She had to swing on every swing with Grammy pushing. She had lots of fun trying out the slides and climbing toys too.

Feeding the fish at Brookville Lake.

Riding the carousel at Faust Park back home in St. Louis.

Zoo Trip

It is a beautiful day here so Emily and I went to the zoo. St. Louis has an amazing (ranked #1 in the country in some publications) and free zoo! Emily and I both had a blast. She was telling all of the animals "hi" and "bye". We even got to see a baby giraffe who was super cute!

At the Sting Ray exhibit. You can pet the sting rays, which I did, but Emily wasn't too sure about it. I think that was more because she had to lay on top of the barrier to reach them and didn't like that idea too much. She seemed to love seeing the rays swimming and flapping their wings.

Petting a baby goat. She petted and brushed a bunch of the goats.

Peeking through a fence outside the chimpanzee exhibit.

Climbing up to get a look at the zebras.

A good zoo trip wears a girl out!

End of the Season

We went to the lake last weekend for likely the last time this boating season. It was a great weekend to be down there: beautiful weather and hardly anyone there. We went to several resteraunts we either had never been too are hadn't been to in ages (and officially determined Emily likes french fries). Emily took her longest ever boat ride thanks to the lack of traffic. She definitely has started loving the boat this season! She also rode the jet ski for the last time this summer as they are now put away for the winter. We are all a little sad that lake season is over.

Getting ready for the last jet ski ride of the season.

Off with Daddy.

Very serious about getting the jet ski back on the lift just right.

So Grown Up

Emily is getting more and more grown up every day. She is stringing lots more words together and is very talkative. We have lots of fun playing pretend, running around outside and of course shoveling rocks.

Playing with sidewalk chalk. Daddy (aka Mr. Clean) was horrified when he saw her but never fear, she cleaned up fine.

Playing on the bed.

All ready to go out on the jet ski. She had to have her hat and sunglasses on just like Daddy.

Going for a ride. She LOVES riding on the jet ski and going out on the boat!

Finally, Some Nice Weather

Well, it finally got below 100 in St. Louis this week so we were able to do some fun stuff outside and had a gorgeous weekend at the lake. It is hard to believe that Labor Day is right around the corner. Where has the summer gone?

Emily trying out her new lounge chair. Grammy brought this belated birthday gift with her and Emily loves it...well, she sits in it as much as any two year old sits anywhere.

Roaming around at the lake. Emily's new favorite pasttime is throwing rocks in the water and watching them splash. If she gets a big splash she'll say "nice one".

"Driving" the car to BeBe's house. There is nothing illegal about this is there?

"Driving" the golf cart. Emily requested a golf cart ride this morning so we went exploring for a little while. She is a pretty good driver of all sorts of vehicles (boats, jet skis, cars, etc.) but she doesn't always do a great job of keeping her eyes on the road! :)

We Survived the Heat

Well, the last couple of weeks have been miserably hot here in St. Louis but we have survived. It was a little tough finding indoor activities to keep a 2 year old entertained but we managed. Luckily, we have a few beautiful days to look forward to.

A serious nap on the couch.
Watching Sesame Street from the coffee table.

Emily's first iced tea from Quik Trip.

Looking so grown up!

Not Much New in the Zoo

Well, there isn't much new to report. We have a new camera after our last one met an untimely death when we went through a rogue wave on the boat. Our video camera also didn't survive so we'll get to see if that extended warranty was worth the money. We had a nice weekend at the lake with BeBe babysitting twice so Mommy and Daddy could get away. What a treat! Now the heat is really setting in so we will be hiding inside.

Emily on her daily jet ski ride. She loves the ski!

Returning from her ride. Apparently a good ride wears a girl out because she is sound asleep!
